2020 Online Art Auction

Artist Application Instructions

Dear Artist,

We are excited that you will participate in the 84th Annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival.

NEW THIS YEAR! We are offering our participating artists the opportunity to sell their artwork in advance of the festival AND raise money for our community-based youth arts program, the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition (AHSAE).

Leading up to the festival in April, we will host an Online Art Auction to directly support the AHSAE and its programs that provide competition and exhibition experience, art supplies for students and teachers, scholarships and more. When you participate in the Online Art Auction, you will receive payment in the amount you set as your minimum sales price for all pieces sold. It’s a win-win! As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival will donate all net proceeds from the Online Art Auction to directly support Atlanta-area high schools. Our goal is to donate $40,000 in scholarships and art supplies to more than 80 Atlanta high schools.

HOW IT WORKS >> Fill out the online form with details and upload images of artwork to be donated or sold. On the form, you will include the retail cost of the piece (or discounted rate – it’s up to you!). The Atlanta Dogwood Festival will feature your piece at your price plus 10-20% and place it on our Online Art Auction, which will be hosted on our website. We will promote the auction – and your artwork – through a media campaign, direct mail invitations, social media, newsletters and more.

For each piece sold, the artist will receive the self-determined price of the piece directly from the Atlanta Dogwood Festival. Buyers will either have work shipped to them – be sure to include estimated shipping fees in your self-determined purchase price – or they can choose to pick up the artwork at the festival in April.

We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to promote and sell some of your work before the festival. You will be supporting young and future artists at the same time. Please fill out the online form before January 20, 2020 to reserve a spot in the Online Art Auction.

Thank you for your support of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival. We look forward to seeing you in April!

Artist Spotlight - Kimmy Cantrell, College Park, GA
Kimmy enjoys developing fresh variations on several recurring themes: faces, still lifes, nudes and fish. Kimmy uses many forms to tell his stories, from free standing sculptures to still life collages. He uses asymmetry to challenge traditional definitions of beauty. “I want to show the beauty within flaws,” he explains. “Imperfections tell stories that are far more compelling than perfection.” See more and purchase at www.kimart.com

Artist Spotlight - Signe and Genna Grushovenko have been married since 1999 and collaborating for nearly as long. Genna begins their process by applying rich layers of pattern and tone to gessoed masonite or linen supports. Signe then selects an inspiration image from their extensive collection of vintage found photos, draws with oil pastel atop the abstract underlayer using the photo for reference, and completes the image with blocky 'panes' of oil color.
The final results of their collaboration are multi-layered paintings with deep surfaces, crisp at first glance but rewarding the careful viewer with an undercurrent of complex tonality and colorplay.
See more and purchase at www.grushovenko.com/
They are currently featured at dk Gallery in Marietta. dk Gallery
